about

This release is very ambient, meditatively droning, and patient... fleshing out warm, vibrant sustained tones, warbled tape loops, and live piano improvisations.

The whole sound theme/narrative is an attempt at reaching back into archetypes associated with international celebrations and rituals surrounding winter solstice.

Ancient practices are reflected on with each piece, from the First Nations people of North and Central America to the Middle East, the very old pagan assemblies of Europe, as well as the moon deity of Benin, the Japanese celebrations, and indigenous Hawaiian winter cultures, are explored with love and respect.

Although, generally a futurist, I have a deep and profound appreciation for the ancient and the folk practices of people long gone and who are still here, and want to pay tribute to practices long ago marginalized by modern holiday homogeneity.

Please join me in marking the longest night and the shortest day of the year on Dec 21st, 2019. 🖤🖤🖤
